"Akira" is a seminal Japanese cyberpunk manga series and animated film created by Katsuhiro Otomo. It's set in a post-apocalyptic, futuristic Neo-Tokyo, built on the ruins of a city destroyed by an event that triggered World War III. The story revolves around two teenage friends, Kaneda and Tetsuo, and the events that unfold after Tetsuo gains powerful psychic abilities following a motorcycle accident. These abilities attract the attention of a shadowy government agency and lead to chaos and rebellion as Tetsuo's powers threaten to unleash a destructive entity also named Akira.
