Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott and released in 1982, is a science fiction neo-noir film set in a dystopian Los Angeles in 2019. The story follows Rick Deckard, a "blade runner," who is tasked with hunting down and "retiring" (killing) escaped replicants, bioengineered humanoids. These replicants, created by the Tyrell Corporation, are essentially synthetic humans with limited lifespans and are outlawed on Earth after a violent mutiny.
